The optimal solution for high snow loads

In some parts of Germany, Austria and Switzerland the massive snowfall of recent weeks brought us more than one meter of snow in parts of Germany, Austria and Switzerland and even up to three meters in some places

Our product of the month for February, the Excellent series Glass/Glass snow load module with 300 Wp, made by the German premium manufacturer Sonnenstromfabrik / CS Wismar, for several reasons is ideally suited to withstand the resulting high snow loads.

Fresh snow weighs approx. 50 kg/m³, while wet old snow can indeed weigh 300-500 kg/m³. A maximum test load of 825 kg/m³ (8,100 Pa) was certified by TÜV Rheinland for the Excellent series Glass/Glass modules from CS Wismar.

Snow thrust often deforms the frames of the lower module row. To prevent this from happening, the laminate of the snow load module is connected to its frame by means of a special adhesive with extremely high bond strength.


Furthermore, due to the design of the glass/glass module, practically no microcracks occur in the cells when the laminate experiences deformation from snow load stress. Additionally, the cells are located in the mechanically neutral axis that is not affected by bending, hence are optimally protected against external forces.
